Shift Preteen Ministry Philosophy

The Shift Preteen Ministry of Anderson Mill seeks to provide a safe, transitional environment for student in 5th and 6th grade.  Every activity involved in our ministry seeks to be the transitional step between our Crosstown Children’s ministry and our Student to Student Student ministry.

Parent’s Role

The Parent’s role is to be the primary faith influencer of their children.  Our desire as a family-equipping ministry is to provide talking points, faith supporting events, resources, and seminars that will help your family grow in your relationships with Christ.  We invite you to come and check out any of our weekly activities, retreats, and other activities as a parent.

Weekly Activities

shiftsmallShift Bible Study meets each Sunday morning in (Rooms 301-304) from 9:30am-10:45am.  Our classes are divided by grade and gender to provide a safe age-appropriate environment for students to study God’s Word.  We open by playing exciting games in our gym and then connect to each lesson with creative teaching by caring adults who open up the Bible each week.

wiredsmallWired Preteen Choir meets each Sunday evening in (Room 205) from 6:00pm-7:15pm.  During this time, our choir rehearses their music for upcoming performances in our Sunday Morning Worship Services and other special events. Students also have opportunities to learn more about music and what true worship is as our choir director and other caring adults lead this dynamic program.

DriveWednesday Night Drive meets each Wednesday evening in (Room 205) from 6:00pm-7:30pm.  This is our preteen worship experience where students have the opportunity to meet new friends, play exciting games, sing praise songs together led by our own preteen worship band, I-26, and hear a foundational lesson from God’s Word.

Other Events

Quarterly Events give us as a ministry and you as a preteen family an opportunity to connect with others in our ministry.  In the Fall, we have our annual Preteen and Parents Potluck Picnic at the Park.  Our Preteen Ministry Christmas Party gives us a chance to give back as our main focus is to be a blessing for others.  Around Valentine’s Day, we host our Preteen Father Daughter Banquet, a very special time for preteen daughters and their fathers/father-figures.  We close out the year with our Wired Preteen Choir Dinner Theater, where we invite the whole church to see the hard work that our students have put into their Spring musical.

Retreats and Camps have the opportunity to be the largest catalyst for our students in the form of faith supporting events. Every Fall, we enjoy our Preteen Fall Retreat, a one night trip focusing on God’s desire for us.  Spring gives us an opportunity to get outdoors and hold our Preteen Spring Campout, a one night in-town camping retreat where we focus on our identity in Christ. During each summer, we take a week away to focus on our relationship with Christ at our Preteen Summer Camp, Centri-kid.

Fantastic Fridays occur each summer and are an amazing time of crazy-fun.  Every other week we get together and play games(sometimes wet, sometimes messy) that let preteens be preteens.  We generally start our time with a creative devotion grounded in our God’s Word and end with a variety of fun activities (Pool Parties, Video Games, H2O Explosion, Messy games and of course a trip to Frankie’s Fun Park).

Happy Tuesday

Each Tuesday morning, the Preteen ministry staff sends out a weekly parent e-letter named the Happy Tuesday.  In each issue there is a breakdown of everything happening that week, upcoming events, and some parent ministry training/encouragement.  To subscribe, click here.
