How do I become a Christian?

• The Lord Jesus Christ made becoming a Christian easy for us.  By willingly going to the cross and dying for our sins, Jesus paid for the sins of the world and removed the barrier that separated us from God. To become a Christian you must believe in the Lord Jesus.  In the Bible it tells us “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved” Acts 16:31

1. 1. Ask yourself do you need to be saved from your sin?  Sin is anything that you think, say or do that displeases God.  Sin separates us from God.   The Bible says that the wages of sin is death Romans 3:23, that means being separated from God forever.  So …you do need to have your sins forgiven?
   2. God loved you so much that He wanted to be able to be with you, so He made a way for your sins to be forgiven.  He sent his son Jesus, to take the punishment for your sin.  The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
   3. The Bible tells us exactly what we must do to be saved from our sins and become a Christian.  Acts 16:31 says “believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved”.

• Talk to your mom, dad, Sunday school teacher, or any other adult in your life and let them know that you are interested in becoming a Christian or if you have already believed in the Lord Jesus and want more information about what you should do now to live more like Jesus.

What is baptism?

• Baptism is the symbol, or picture of the cleansing that has taken place inside you when you ask Jesus to be your savior and cleanse you of your sins.  It gives you the opportunity to show everyone what Jesus has done for you.
• Baptism also symbolizes Jesus’ death and resurrection. Going under the water represents Jesus’ burial and coming up out of the water represents Jesus’ resurrection.

Can I get baptized?

• The Bible tells us that those who have believed on Jesus as their Lord and Savior should be baptized.
• Have you believed in the Lord Jesus as your savior?
• Have you asked for forgiveness and turned from your sin?
• Do you understand what it means to obey and follow Jesus?
• If you answered yes to those question and you want to get baptized let your mom, dad, or another adult know.  They can call your children’s minister to set up an appointment to talk about baptism.
• You will need to attend a “new believers” class or work through the material with your family and meet with a minister and then you will be able to get baptized.
